About Greece

Centrally located between Italy and Turkey and surrounded by the Mediterranean, Ionian and Aegean seas, lies the country of Greece. Extending some 500 kilometres into the sea, Greece is considered to be one of the most beautiful European countries, with great transport links, good infrastructure and a climate resembling Southern California, Greece is being increasingly popular with holiday makers, property purchasers and those looking to seek a lifestyle which is simple, relaxed, laid back and bathed with sunshine almost everyday.

Unusual, in that Greece is made up of both mainland and islands, of which only 100 of these islands are inhabited. Greece is also sparsely populated with approximately one third of the population living in and around Athens.

greeceThe most popular way to travel around Greece is to island hop, using the local ferries or hydrofoils. On the main land, it is the port of Piraeus, which serves the majority of the islands and it is mainly here that tourist head for after arriving in Athens. Greek culture is a mixture of East and West, with a legacy of the long years of Ottoman rule. As Greece's stands on the cusp of Europe and Asia, the country is rich in history and influences from many different cultures.  The landscape holds a number of crumbling ruins and sites of interest from the Minoan Palaces of Crete, to the Byzantine Monasteries of Meteora and the Acropolis in Athens. English is spoken widely in Greece and the Greek people have a relaxed and informal attitude towards life and love socialising. There are plenty of properties to choose from, whether you are looking for a holiday home or a main residence. All budgets can be catered for from lovely stone houses, large individual villas to swish city centre apartments.
